Chapter 3.3

Kiosk mode & PIN profiles

Set up a shared front-desk tablet so staff without email can train with a PIN.

Kiosk mode lets several people train on one shared tablet, each with their own PIN, so nobody needs a personal email or login.

How it works

  • The tablet signs in once with your business's kiosk login. This is your business email address, for example yourbusiness@hoanit.com. It's created automatically with your business.
  • Each staff member has a PIN profile. They pick their name on the kiosk screen, enter their PIN, and train as themselves.
  • When they're done they tap Lock, and the tablet goes back to the name list.

Set up

  1. Open Business Email and find the Set your kiosk password email. Click the link and choose a password. If the link expired, use Settings → Business email → Re-send welcome & kiosk password emails.
  2. Go to Team → Kiosk access and click Add PIN profile for each person. Enter a name (for example, "Front desk — Alex") and a 4–8 digit PIN. You can also give an existing team member a PIN so they can use the tablet.
  3. On the tablet, sign in to HoanIt with the business email address and the password you chose, then open hoanit.com/kiosk. Bookmark it or add it to the home screen.

Prefer not to use email? Rotate kiosk password under Team → Kiosk access sets a new password and shows it once on screen.

Security

  • After 5 wrong PIN attempts, that profile is locked for 15 minutes.
  • An unlocked session ends automatically after 8 hours. Remind staff to tap Lock anyway.
  • The kiosk login can't reach any management pages.
  • If the tablet is lost, click Rotate kiosk password to sign it out, or Remove kiosk login. PIN profiles are kept.
  • Removing someone's PIN, or removing them from the team, stops their kiosk access immediately.
